Child in front for short trip

Peadar Martin McElarney (38), whose address was given as Collingdale, Lurgan, was fined £120 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for allowing a child under the age of 14 in the front of a vehicle without a restraint.
He was also given three points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

Hide AdThe court heard that on November 15 last year at 3pm police saw the child sitting on the knee of a person in the front seat with a restraint.
A solicitor for the defendant said his niece was sitting on his sister’s knee. They were literally just going from the Taghnaven estate to a house across the Old Portadown Road.
