St Columb's Park launch for philosophy website
A lecture entitled "Philosophy and Free Will - Are you exercising yours?" given by Mr. Declan Fitzmaurice, a senior member of the School in Dublin, coincided with the launch.
The website is designed to introduce "the great ideas of wisdom and explain about the Practical Philosophy Courses run by the School in Derry, Letterkenny and further afield."

A branch spokesperson explained: "There is now a real need for WWW.derrywisdom.co.uk website as the Derry Branch has been growing rapidly over the past 2 years with more than 80 people anticipated to be attending classes at St. Columb's Park House this Autumn, and the new website will provide an excellent means of communication.
"The School of Philosophy originated in the late 1960's when a group of people got together to explore the fundamental questions of human existence and creation. Since then the School has grown steadily, with 18 branches throughout Ireland, North and South.
"Practical Philosophy is not an academic pursuit. The emphasis is on making sense of life in a Practical way which is relevant in dealing with all the problems of everyday life.

The teachings draw on the great philosophical thinkers from East and West and students are asked neither to accept or reject the ideas discussed, but to put them to the test in light of their own experience."
Classes begin with the Introductory Course on Monday, September 13, at 7.30pm in St. Columb's Park House, off Limavady Road, and for continuing students also at St. Columb's Park House on Tuesday, September 14.
