Beckett Cup final disaster for Moira with heavy defeat

Moira Albion lost 7-0 in the Beckett Cup final last Friday evening to unbeaten Divison three champions Caledon Rovers.

Moira knew they had a tough task to come away with the trophy as they were up against a side who has won every single match they have played in the league so far this season.

The game plan must have been to keep things tight and try and nick a goal on the counter-attack.

If that was the plan it went out of the window early in the the game when Caledon’s striker picked the ball up at the edge of the box and found the bottom corner.

Things went from bad to worse soon as Caledon made no mistake from the spot after Moira had given away a clumsy foul in the box.

At half-time and 2-0 down after a battling performance, Moira were still in the game but any hopes for a comeback were quickly dashed.
