10th anniversary ofHezlett Exhibition

The tenth anniversary Hezlett Primary School Art Exhibition will be held this weekend.

This year the feature artist will be Ross Wilson.

Anne Stirling, a spokesperson for the exhibition, which opens on Thursday, said: “We are very much looking forward to this as Ross has worked closely with the school during the last year on several projects especially with our P7s.

“It all started from an idea in a PTA meeting to help raise funds for the school, little did we know the wonderful journey of discovery it would lead us on.

“The Art Exhibition has been well supported by school families and the local community Over the past ten years, we have also had the privilege of meeting some wonderful people and exhibiting amazing pieces of work. This has been a great success in school with the children also, as they all get an opportunity to view the exhibition.

The artists come not only from round the North Coast and beyond but throughout the Province and Donegal.

“Each year we have a core group which continue to amaze us by returning again with new and fresh work. We display approximately 150 pieces in the assembly hall.

“The exhibition is open for viewing from Thursday, March 13 to Saturday, March 15. This is a wonderful opportunity to view and buy a piece of original art work.”

Hazel Patterson, who has exhibited at the event every year since it started, commented: “‘A group of us had just completed an Associate Bachelors Degree in Fine Art at Limavady College, when we first exhibited our work at Hezlett PTA Art Exhibition ten years ago.

“The opportunity to continue exhibiting art work over the past decade has encouraged and motivated me to keep on producing new work, in various mediums, and to develop my ideas.

.I now teach a class to adults who are returning to learning, or are exploring their creativity for the first time, and the Hezlett Exhibition provides a goal for them to frame and present their work, and so encourages emerging talent.

“Congratulations to Anne Stirling and her team on the 10th anniversary - for the quality and variety of the work exhibited, and for continuing to give opportunity to showcase local talent.’”

The exhibition wil be open at the following times: Thursday, March 13, 7.30pm-10.00pm; Friday, March 14, 2.00pm- 9.00pm; Saturday, March 15, 10.30am- 3.30pm.
