30 Seconds to Mars lift off Belsonic with a bang

The multi-platinum trio, including lead singer Jared Leto and brother Shannon, who also hosted an after-show event at The Stiff Kitten and Tomo Milievic, certainly made up for not visiting the city sooner with a stellar performance that had the crowd rocking.

Ably supported by Lisburn’s own Rams Pocket Radio and You Me At Six, fans, some of whom had camped out for hours, were certainly ready to rock by the time the headliners took to the stage.

Led by charismatic frontman Jared Leto, who constantly invited fans up onto the stage and had the crowd laughing along as he had running conversations with the audience, 30 Seconds to Mars ensured Belsonic started with a bang.

The group had the crowd singing along with hits such as Attack and The Kill from their second studio album, A Beautiful Lie, as well as tracks from their recent album This is War, including Search and Destroy and Alibi. Performances of the huge hits Closer to the Edge and This is War had the crowd going wild, before they finished an amazing gig with an epic performance of the massive smash Kings and Queens.

This may have been 30 Seconds to Mars’ Belfast debut, but if this show is anything to go by, it certainly won’t be their last visit here.

Belsonic continues throughout next week, with performances from acts such as Beady Eye, Elbow, Plan B, Tinie Tempah and many more.
