A century of music at Ballycaslte High

Ballycastle High school is alive with the sound of music as pupils and staff prepare for a special concert to celebrate the school’s centenary. The concert is planned for Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th April, starting at 7.30pm in the McMaster Hall. Tickets, priced at £4.00 for adults and £2.00 for children, are available from the school office on (028)20762254.

The evening will feature a wide variety of music, song and dance spanning the trends and tastes of the past one hundred years. The music department has outdone itself in putting together a programme that really does offer something for everyone. The concert will offer a trip down memory lane for some, while younger members of the audience will have the opportunity to appreciate the music of days gone by, alongside some more modern offerings.

In addition to the musical treats on offer, the concert will also see the return of two of the school’s best loved staff as Mr. John Andrews and Ms. Gail Morrow are to compere the event. They are looking forward to recounting the school’s history as well as some reminiscing about personal memories of their time in the High School.

The concert is part of a series of events planned to mark Ballycastle High’s centenary year. January saw the launch of a one hundredth anniversary calendar, limited copies of which are still available. There are also plans to plant a commemorative tree which should serve as a permanent memorial of the occasion.
