A Halloween hoot in Coleraine

A Halloween spectacular will be held in Rugby Avenue, Coleraine, on Friday, October 31.

The free event, “Halloween Happening”, will once again be sponsored by Specsavers, Coleraine.

Expect ‘thrills’ and ‘shrills’ at the Fun Fair, open from 4.00pm until 10.00pm with a bigger variety of rides suitable for all ages.

Mayor of Coleraine, councillor George Duddy, said: “I encourage everyone to participate in this year’s ‘Halloween Happening’ and join in the fun and freaky goings on at Rugby Avenue.

“This is a free event for all ages to enjoy. Entertainment will begin at 7.00pm and will include live music from well-known favourites “The Untouchables” There will also be a fire show, street theatre, scary walkabouts, fancy dress prizes and a special Kids Zone at the Specsavers stage.

“Those who attended the event last year will undoubtedly remember the amazing Artastic 12ft high Creepy Creatures. The good news is they’re back again and promising to entertain and offer the public a great chance of a ‘selfie’.

“The evening of course would not be complete without the fantastic ‘firework finale’ at 8.30pm.”

Judith Ball, Store Director of Specsavers in Coleraine, said: “We are delighted to be on board as the official sponsor of the Borough’s Halloween festivities for the sixth year running. We think that the Halloween celebrations in Coleraine are a great way to bring the community together for a ‘thrilling time’ out with family and friends. We are confident that there will be many spooky treats for everyone to enjoy and we will be focusing on the most ‘eye’ catching costume in the fancy dress competition!’

Council encourages everyone, particularly children, to come along to the free event dressed in a ‘spooky’ Halloween costumes to be in with a chance to win a prize in the fancy dress competition which starts at 7.30pm at the Specsavers stage.

Coleraine Borough Council is working closely with Police Service Northern Ireland regarding traffic management. Parking will be available on one lane of Rugby Avenue, Coleraine Rugby Club, and the hard shoulder of the dual carriageway towards the River Bann. There will be limited parking for Blue Badge holders at the Pavilion on site. Parking will be restricted in the Glengorm Avenue area.
