A world of movement awaits at Echo Echo

Echo Echo Dance is offering a performance night filled with short dance and physical theatre performances on Friday, May 13, for Londonderry audiences to experience their world of movement.

The performance night is called ‘Interactions’ and is a collection of original dance pieces created and performed by members of the growing Echo Echo dance ensemble.

This performance evening will be particularly poignant as the dancers dedicate their work to the company’s co-founder Ursula Laeubli who sadly died in April.

Audiences are invited to come to the Waterside Theatre and see what happens when a dancer is given collaborators, time and space to explore and experiment, with the instruction to create exactly what they want.

Artistic Director of Echo Echo, Steve Batts, said: “You will be drawn into the individual creative worlds of each member of Echo Echo and see how they meet and move together. The performances will include solos, duets and group pieces– some serious, some wacky – but I have encouraged everyone to take risks and let their imaginations fly.”

The interactions performance night is part of the company’s Into Contact audience development project which is funded by Legacy Trust UK’s Connections programme. The programme has been set up to help build a cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Connections programme is managed by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Curtain up is at 8pm in The Waterside Theatre. Tickets £5, available from the box office on 028 7131 4000 or at www.watersidetheatre.com. Alternatively, contact Echo Echo on 028 7134 2266 or visit www.echoechodance.com.
