Acclaimed comedy flies into Burnavon

ONE of Northern Ireland’s leading independent theatre companies, Prime Cut Productions is bringing critically acclaimed comedy drama ‘Shoot the Crow’ to the Burnavon for one night only.

Belfast-based Prime Cut Productions, who are this year celebrating their 20th year in theatre, are bringing the production to the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre as part of a 16 venue all-Ireland tour.

An hilarious and moving homage to the working man, Shoot The Crow centres on a day in the life of four tilers. Ding Ding, Petesy, Randolph and Socrates are working on a Belfast building and dreaming of better things. There’s an opportunity to make a few quid on the sly, but not all of them can commit the same petty crime. The comedy drama considers the relationships we develop with the people we work with and what most of us really think about the jobs we spend most of our lives doing.

Following a 2011 critically acclaimed tour of the show, Prime Cut are taking to the road again with a brand new all-star cast comprising Paddy Jenkins, Packy Lee, Marty Maguire and Walter McMonagle. Both Packy and Walter have performed the roles of Randolph and Ding Ding in previous productions of Shoot The Crow and are excited to be bringing the characters back to life for a local audience.

McCafferty is one of Ireland’s most famed contemporary playwrights and is known for the memorable characters he creates and his use of the unique rhythm and poetry of the Belfast dialect. He is excited about the forthcoming production and the opportunity to bring this story back home:

“I’m fascinated with the relationships we develop throughout our lives and often none can be tougher and closer than those we form with our workmates. Our relationship with work is a complex one – we often hate it because it steals our time yet we also know we can’t do without it.”

Director Emma Jordan added “Owen’s work has received critical acclaim the world over and we are thrilled to be able to bring Shoot The Crow back on tour to some venues we didn’t visit during the 2011 run. If you fancy an evening of laughter, tears and good old-fashioned Belfast philosophy with four unforgettable characters then this is the show for you!”

Please note the play contains strong language. Shoot the Crow is on at the Burnavon on Thursday 22nd March only, for more information and to book tickets visit www.burnavon.com or call 028 8676 9949.
