‘Amazing reponse’ for Philippines

The organisers of a fundraiser for victims of the Philippines typhoon in the Anchor Complex last Friday say they had an ‘amazing response’ from revellers and business people in the area.

The fundraiser was the brain child of local DJs Brian Moore and Brian McKay. A chat over a cuppa led to the well known pair organising the event, at very short notice.

Speaking this week, Brian Moore thanked everyone who had made it so successful: “On behalf of Brian McKay and myself we want to thank everyone who helped make Friday’s fundraising night for the victims of the typhoon in The Philippines such a success.

“Given that we ran it at short notice, the response was amazing. We are estimating that the total will be in well in excess of £1,000.

“It’s worth noting that there was no admission charge on the night, so monies raised were purely from collection boxes and the auction of some goods that were donated by the local business community.

“To raise as much as we did coming up to Christmas is a wonderful comment on the people out there.”
