The Foyle Folk Festival is a small independently run festival organised by a voluntary committee, most of which are musicians. This helps generate a very friendly, warm and laid back atmosphere, which adds greatly to the overall experience of the festival. Regarded as a prestigious event for performers, locals and visitors alike and attracts acts from all over Ireland and further afield.

Philip James Wallace, organiser, said: “I’m really looking forward to this year’s festival especially after having a break in 2011, we are back with the best line up to date.

“We are delighted to have Andy Irvine on board, a complete legend in the world folk and trad scene, as well as favourites Paddy Nash, Ard Rí and a range of new acts including rising alt-folk-type band, Farriers.

“The day is very much about the music and talent on offer and hopefully this year will lay the foundations for many more years to come when we can grow the festival!”
