It will be followed swiftly by The Little Mermaid in Portadown Town Hall Theatre from Friday to Sunday, February 13 to 15.

Kieran Corr, who is now back on board as the drama society’s drama facilitator, said: “It’s great to be back helping the team and we as a society are delighted to have so many new and talented members and volunteer leaders since the massive success of Les Miserables.

“When you consider how many talented and experienced children the society already had, add in all the new members then we had to make the decision that we had to perform two shows for this particular age group.”

After a few weeks of auditions Caitlin McWilliams from Silverwood, who has performed as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Glinda in The Wizard of Oz, Brigitta in The Sound of Music and Les Miserables, will perform as Ariel.

Blathnaid O’Hagan from Derrytrasna, who has just got her grade seven in singing and who performed as Marta in The Sound of Music, Fauna in Sleeping Beauty, Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast and Les Miserables, will also perform in the lead female role as Ariel.

Kieran said: “Both Caitlin and Blathnaid are two wonderful young ladies who are fabulous singers and actors who both sung solo at the turning on of the Christmas lights in Lurgan and have been loyal and committed members of MADS for years.

“We have a fabulous cast for this show which also includes Davan Kelly, Molly LIggett, Dairine McCaughley, Jane Donnelly, Aimee McVeigh, Aoibhin Mitchell, Hannah McConville, Chloe Henderson, Dylan Breen and Michael Morrow who despite all still being juniors have performed in many shows for MADS and were part of the cast for Les Miserables which was performed to sell out crowds.”

Tickets for The Little Mermaid are now on sale from Print Business Supplies, Lurgan, Winnies Newsagents, Portadown and Moyraverty Centre, Craigavon every Saturday morning.

Tickets are priced at £6 with a seating plan for all four performances.
