It’s Festival season and Corrymeela has its spectacular festival to entice local people and visitors to Causeway Coast and Glens from 31st July – 2nd August.

Corrymeela’s Aperture Festival is happening for three full days in Ballycastle and promises diversity, arts, debate, politics, faith, music and a huge celebration to mark Corrymeela’s 50th anniversary.

There is programming for all ages, for the old, the young and the young at heart.

Corrymeela was successful in its bid to the Community Festivals Funding from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council with the support of the Department for Culture, Arts and Leisure.

Mayor Michelle Knight-McQuillan commenting on all fund recipients said: “Local events and festivals are vital in the promotion of good relations and sense of identity within our communities.”

Corrymeela won its bid because it has strong community participation in the Aperture festival and will provide

opportunities for people to develop their skills base.

This could be in organising or participating in activities as well as enabling the event to be as inclusive as possible and to attract visitors to the area.

The organising committee is working with Adam Turkington of Seedhead Arts. With Adam’s expertise Aperture sets to create a cross community family friendly festival with a broad range of ideas and arts that will provoke and inspire.

Aperture will celebrate, examine and give shape to ideas of conciliations and reconciliation: it will utilize

authentic personal stories and experiences to influence change in others.

Children under 5 are free.

Ticket price does not include camping or accommodation, but there is a range of camping, caravan, B&B and hotel accommodation available. A shuttle bus service from Ballycastle Town Centre & Watertop Farm throughout the festival.
