Artist exhibits work at library

A FORMER teacher now working as a full time artist is staging an exhibition in Lisburn Library running from June 4.

The exhibition by Gerard Madden is entitled “It’s all gone now.....Linen sites in the Lagan Valley“ and looks at the impact the historic Linen industry has left on the city of Lisburn and the Lagan Valley.

The exhibition consists of a series of 16 black and white photographs and a set of four oil paintings that look at the people and the places where linen was produced for so many years.

The photographs look at sites in Hilden, Derriaghy, Edentougher near Glenavy and Cidercourt near Crumlin.

The paintings explore the sense of place and the people who worked on the sites.

Gerard, who now lives in Lisburn, will be exhibiting his work at the library throughout the month of June.

The work was made possible by a kind grant from Lisburn Arts Advisory Committee .
