Award-winning ‘Sweet Charity’ opens at the MAC

YOU don’t have to be a ‘Big Spender’, but ladies from Banbridge keen to have the ultimate ‘girls’ night out’ should look no further than the smash hit musical ‘Sweet Charity’ which opens at the MAC this week.

A funny, poignant and toe-tapping show based on the original screenplay by Federico Fellini, ‘Sweet Charity’ arrives in Northern Ireland following stints on Broadway in New York and in the West End, London.

The renowned musical - which will only be showing at the MAC - follows the misadventures of the unlucky in love, Miss Charity Hope Valentine, who lives in hope that her Prince Charming is just around the next corner.

The Tony-award winning musical is given a vivacious makeover by the MAC and Belfast-based Bruiser Theatre Company’s skilled team - director Lisa May; musical director Matthew Reeve; and choreographer Jennifer Rooney.

Including hits such as ‘Hey, Big Spender’, ‘The Rhythm of Life’ and ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’, the show is sure to have everyone’s feet tapping and heart soaring as the story reaches its climax.

To celebrate the two-week run, the MAC has teamed up with beauty company Glass Dolls to offer a VIP Pamper package on selected dates. The ‘Spend a Little Time on You’ offer includes premium tickets along with three treatments from Glass Dolls pop-up styling station and a cocktail to enjoy during the show.

There is also the chance to take advantage of an overnight stay at the Merchant Hotel as part of a new package comprising MAC VIP tickets, cooked breakfast and a specially commissioned cocktail, ‘The Artisan’, which has been designed to celebrate the opening of the arts venue.
