Belfast’s got ‘killer love’ for Nicole Scherzinger

FORMER Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger brought her first solo tour to Belfast this week when she performed to a packed crowd at the Waterfront Hall.

The pop beauty delivered a ‘killer’ show when the ‘Killer Love’ tour arrived in the city on Wednesday night, when hits old and new, including a few PCD favourites, were performed.

It’s been a long process for the former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman to get to this stage, but she certainly delivered a great show for fans who danced and sang along all night during the tour to support her debut solo album.

Backed by a live band and four female dancers, the talented musician, writer and dancer wowed the crowds with stunning vocals, superb dance moves and an ability to segue from up-tempo dance numbers to emotional ballads with aplomb.

The night got off to a bang with album track Club Banger Nation, Poison and the title track of the hit album Killer Love.

Slowing things down, the former X Factor judge displayed a superb vocal range with a number of mid-range ballads including Baby Love, the wonderful Pretty and You Will Be Loved.

Nicole’s Pussycat Doll roots were certainly not forgotten with a superb medley of PCD hits that had the audience singing and dancing along. Fans were transported to more exotic shores with Buttons and Jai Ho, from the Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, before an energetic set of Wait A Minute, Hush Hush, I Hate This Part and Stickwitu, a highlight of the night, prompting a mass sing-a-long, and finishing with When I Grow Up.

As the hour and a half show came toward an end, Nicole finished with some of her biggest hits including Wet, Right There and the massive PCD smash hit Don’t Cha, before finishing the night with an encore of the number one smash Don’t Hold Your Breath - a great way to finish a great night.

Having taken the leap of faith to go solo, Nicole said she was “honoured” to bring her debut solo tour to Belfast, having last been in the city three years ago with her bandmates. Fans will certainly be hoping her next visit doesn’t take as long, and judging from this, Nicole Scherzinger has the talent and ability to rival any of the leading female solo artists in the business.
