Ben to play Island Arts Centre

Glover, who now splits his time between Belfast and Nashville, has been compared to Ryan Adams, David Gray and Bruce Springsteen.

Ben has garnered rave album and concert reviews across the globe and has toured extensively both as an opening act as well as a headliner, performing or recording with names such as Vince Gill, Jason Mraz, Tift Merrit, Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale.

In the past year his touring schedule has included dates in Belfast, London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, New York and Brussels as well as shows at the famed Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles and sold out dates at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Cafe.

Do We Burn The Boats? is Ben’s fourth album and again is a collaboration with producer Neilson Hubbard. The pair teamed up in Mr Lemon’s studio in Nashville, Tennessee for their third project together.

“I intended to record just five songs for an EP, but after three days in the studio we all felt that there was a momentum happening that we couldn’t ignore,” said Ben.

“So we decided to go full steam ahead and cut ten songs and make an album. It all happened very quickly and organically, but I’ve learned that sometimes the creative process takes on a life of its own and when it does its best to follow its direction.”

The opening track in the album, Whatever Happens Will, has recently been placed in the soundtrack of the new US movie Finding Joy as well as being featured in the webisode series Adults Only. Another song already garnering attention is Rampart Street which was co-written by Ben and highly acclaimed singer/songwriter Mary Gauthier. Glover has shared the road with Gauthier on her past two European tours and the pair are frequent collaborators.

Ben will play the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn on June 21 with Bap Kennedy and Anthony Toner.
