Bluegrass in Woodville

CARMEL Sheerin & The Ravens will be playing the Woodville Arms tonight (Thursday).

Also performing on the night is Lurgan’s own banjo king Jonny Toman and singer-songwriter extraordinaire Paul Hull.

Carmel Sheerin & The Ravens with special guest Jonathan Maness are continuing their nationwide tour of their second album, ‘Here With You’.

Carmel and the boys are the only Irish Bluegrass Band to have shared a stage with household names on the country circuit such as Randy Travis, Martina McBride and Hal Ketchum, to name but a few.

The band will be joined this time with one of America’s top class musicians, singer and songwriter Jonathan Maness.

Carmel has recently recorded a duet with Jonathan for her new upcoming album. Jonathan’s musical journey began with the guitar. To him, this path has always felt more like a treasure hunt. A constant search to create musical moments like the ones that moved him. From the tight fou part vocal harmony of classic southern gospel recordings, to the instrumental prowess of musicians both traditional (Doc Watson, Flatt and Scruggs) and eclectic (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bela Fleck, George Benson), music was the keystone of Jonathan’s childhood arch.

Jonathan has toured with Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike, Young Harmony, and the Dixie Bee-Liners. He has just released a record with Mountain Soul, an exciting new bluegrass/Americana project based in Knoxville, TN. He has sat in with Doc Watson, Riders In The Sky, the Steep Canyon Rangers, Wayne Henderson, Cadillac Sky, David Holt and many others.
