They plan a Lap of the Lough for Northern Ireland Hospice and Family Fun Day at The Corner House Bar, Derrymacash.

Brothers Paul, Peadar and Tom McConville, better known as ‘The Blues Brothers’, are planning to ride around Lough Neagh this Saturday, June 8, and are inviting other keen bikers to join them in raising much needed funds for the rebuild of Northern Ireland Hospice.

Lead biker Paul bought his beloved bike just over a year ago and the other two followed suit six months later. The three choppers are Honda Furys 1300cc in a very distinctive blue colour, hence the name “The Blues Brothers”.

The ride out will leave from The Corner House Bar, Derrymacash at 12 noon and all riders should be there at 11am for registration. A Family Fun Day will follow from 2pm.

The Corner House Bar have chosen to support the Northern Ireland Hospice ‘Buy a Brick’ Campaign and the Family Fun Day will kick start the partnership, with a BBQ, face painting, a showcase of local emergency vehicles and much more.

Deirdre Melly, Community Fundraiser for NI Hospice said: “We would like to thank The Blues Brothers and Trevor and Roisin from The Corner House, Derrymacash for supporting the ‘Buy a Brick’ Campaign and helping with the progress of palliative care education in Northern Ireland.

“NI Hospice is a local charity caring for local children and adults with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses. Our Hospice in Belfast is no longer fit for purpose and we need to rebuild. In order to do so, we need to raise an extra £3m from the public.  The new build will be the hub of excellence in palliative education and research in NI. Every trainee medical practitioner will be trained in palliative care by NI Hospice. All care settings are to receive palliative care training, and research will be conducted into palliative care and non malignant diseases such as dementia.”

Trevor  McCann, proprietor of The Corner House added: “We are delighted to be supporting the NI Hospice ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign and excited that our contribution can make a difference to palliative care in Northern Ireland. We hope to see many families at The Corner House on June 8 to watch the Blues Brothers ride out and welcome them home again during the Family Fun Day which is open to everyone.”
