The event was part of the Ways of Seeing, A Sense of Place community engagement project in partnership with Mid Antrim Museums Service and supported by the Northern Ireland Museums Council.

The project uses art works from the MAMS Museums art collections to highlight the local built heritage and stimulate connected stories and promote identity in the local area.

Over 60 participants gathered to celebrate Phase One of the project and to look forward to Phase Two in 2015. The ‘sense of place’ themed event, helped those who attended to gain knowledge and evoke memories about their local and surrounding areas.

One attendee commented afterwards: “I couldn’t praise the organisers too highly as the whole session was absolutely brilliant.

“It opened my eyes to how much history there was all around us.”

Through consultation with the groups in a workshop style format individuals gave feedback on the first phase suggested ideas for Phase Two.
