Bushmills youngsters paint the Giant’s Bus!

The group which consisted of ten 7-16 years olds were asked to think about themes that they associated with Bushmills and the Giant’s Causeway.

The themes decided upon were the mighty giant; Finn McCool, salmon, the local tongue or dialect and the Giant’s Causeway itself.

The results of working through two of these themes with Ross Wilson can now be seen on the back of two of the National Trust park & ride buses, which currently transport visitors from Bushmills to the Giant’s Causeway up to 80 times a day!

Commenting on the project Art Ward, Community Engagement Officer for the National Trust, Giant’s Causeway, said: “It was fantastic to see these young people really get excited about the project and reconnect with the Causeway and the village they live in. Thanks to the generosity of the Heritage Lottery Fund, this is just the start of a series of community art projects which we hope to work on with the local community.”

Ross Wilson continues: “I was delighted to be asked to work on this project by the National Trust.

It is really exciting and unique as rarely does such an opportunity arise to create something that has such a high profile with visitors from around the world yet also involves the local community and young people.”
