Caitlin lands role of Beauty

LURGAN girl Caitlin McWilliams has landed the leading lady role for the next production by Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society.

Caitlin came through a tough audition process to get the part of ‘Belle’ in the popular family show ‘Beauty and the Beast’. She is a former pupil of St Francis Primary School and now attends Sacred Heart Grammar School in Newry.

The 12-year-old has been with the drama society for a number of years and has performed in various shows. She recently performed the part of Brigitta Von Trapp in the production of ‘The Sound of Music’.

Show producer Kieran Corr said: “Caitlin has come through the ranks with MADS! and started out in the chorus for a number of shows. However, all her hard work has paid off and she is now proving to be a very talented young lady.

“She is a lovely singer and a great dancer and her acting has improved so much over the last 12 months. She deserves to have been given the role of ‘Belle’ and we are all looking forward so seeing her on the stage in January.

Laura Robinson, along with Ethan Lawlor, will be the show directors. Jenny Abraham is the show choreographer and Caitriona Corr will be the vocal coach for the cast.

Tickets, priced £5, go on sale this weekend for all four performances and should prove to be a popular stocking filler for any child for Christmas. The show opens on Friday, January 25, Saturday, January 26 and two performances on Sunday, January 27.

Tickets can be purchased from St Anthony’s Centre, Craigavon, Print Business Supplies in Market Street and Raining Roses in North Street or contact the box office on 3831 6496.
