Camera club focuses on membership

A NEW club aims to give local photographers maximum exposure.

The Island Camera Club’s main goal will be to offer snappers of all skill levels a friendly, member-driven environment in which to attain and share skills.

A web site (www.islandcameraclub.com) is presently under development and changing each day.

Usually, the shutter would come down on camera clubs each May, but the Island group plans to have a couple of informal introductory meetings that month in a bid to increase membership.

“The club was recently formed to encourage the enjoyment and practice of photography at all skill levels.

“We run a varied programme of talks, competitions, videos, practical evenings and social events – in fact something of interest for all,” explained vice-chairman Jim Smith.

Island Camera club meets on Tuesdays at 8pm from September to May in Islandmagee Community Centre and attracts members from Islandmagee, Whitehead, Ballycarry, Larne and beyond.

Jim urged: “You can download a membership form from the web site and bring it along to any meeting, or just come along to a meeting and collect one there.”
