Carrickfergus Castle is set to be under siege in a spectacular re-enactment of the 1690 landing of King William III.

It will see history come alive in the grounds of the historic castle in a free event for all the family next Wednesday, July 13, from 12-4pm.

Re-enactors are pictured launching the event, organised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, which will see feature living history encampments and historic re-enactments at the Castle Green.

Visitors will come face to face with army troops and witness the castle under siege, with musket, cannon and rifle-firing before partaking in a pageantry parade to meet King William upon his landing.
