Celebrating local talent at RVACC

A concert celebrating Limavady Borough’s connection with the blind harpist Denis O’Hampsey will take centre stage at The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre on Friday, February 22 at 7:00 pm.

In 1792 he enthralled the famous Harp Festival in Belfast with his expertise as a musician. It is said many of Ireland’s oldest harp tunes are attributed to him. This relaxed evening will be compered by George Murphy and it will feature performances from the cream of Limavady Borough’s musical talent, so don’t miss this local treat featuring the harp, fiddle, pipes, guitar, singing, and accordion.

Also appearing will be Scottish and Irish dancers.

Performances from Tongues, Tones and Tappin’ Folk Group, The Allen School Of Dance, The Roe Valley Singers, Ardinariff Flute Band, Austin Montgomery the Piper and Lots more will insure a lively evening. Music lovers are asked to come along and support the Roe Valley’s amazing local talent.

An Arts Showcase the following day - Saturday, February 23 at Exhibition 2-4pm, with a performance from 7.30-9.30pm – is another event drawing the best local talent. Admission is free.

This event will showcase the wide cultural practice of the Borough! The evening will feature sketches from “The Gossip Stop”, an original piece written and performed by Benedy Community Association, as well as a short performance from All Stars Drama Academy, local art and photography displays, readings, verse, dance, song, arts, crafts and more!

“Don’t miss out on a great night’s entertainment and prepare to be inspired,” said a spokeswoman for The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre.
