CGS choir says ‘thank you’ for support

In January the talented choir will be performing at the world famous Carnegie Hall.

It’s a trip of a lifetime for the girls and their teachers.

Fundraising for their trip officially began back in early September with a coffee morning and cake sale, followed by a barn party, quiz night and regular bag packing events in ASDA and B&M.

To promote their trip, the choir performed during a live broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster, on John Toal’s show. Following that they were invited by Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, cllr Michelle Knight McQuillan, to a special reception at Cloonavin.

The Gala Concert in the Diamond Hall of the University of Ulster, hosted by Sarah Travers, saw a star studded line up enthral the large audience for over three hours and bring a fitting end to the planned events organised by the parents.

Conductor, and the school’s Head of Music, Richard McCreary told The Times: “Almost forty local businesses generously supported and sponsored the Gala Evening of Music, and we are incredibly indebted to them.

“The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank the general public for their kind donations and attendance at all the events listed above. Making this opportunity of a lifetime possible for the nineteen girls from Coleraine Grammar would not have been possible without the help and support of you, the Coleraine public. Thank you!”
