Children’s Art Festival returns to Playhouse

It will run from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 31 and is open to children aged from four to 16.

With a fun filled theme of ‘The Art of Science’, sponsored by Partridge Peartree Promotions, there is a full creative laboratory of illustrators, dancers, graphic designers, set designers, musical theatre directors and visual artists ready to get creative.

The longest running festival of its kind in Northern Ireland, the festival has also announced its first ever teen drama intensive week for 13 to 16-year-olds with actress, director, producer and circus performer, Nicky Harley.

Facilitators planning the experiments are: Graphic designer and illustrator Joe Barwise; early years/preschool music and movement facilitator, Bernie Doherty; arts facilitator Kirstin McLaughlin of Kid Art and the Craft Box; artist and illustrator Sean Keddy; set designer Phil Ruddock; photographer and filmmaker Denzil Browne; Mary Hill School of Ballet’s Victoria Harrison; musical theatre director, Ryan Quinn and visual artist and Design Den inventor, Siuan O’Doherty.

Scientific fun and experiments include film prosthetics, set design, digital art, dance, drama and music.

The festival is divided into three age categories: Children aged four to six, seven to 12 year-olds and teenagers aged 13 to 16.
