Choir gear up for Christmas concert with star soprano

OVER 40 members of Cookstown Youth Choir enjoyed a music workshop with international Soprano Margaret Keys as they geared up to perform together for Christmas.

The workshop was in preparation for the forthcoming concert ‘Cookstown Youth Choir In Concert with Soprano Margaret Keys’ in the Burnavon Theatre on Saturday 17th December at 8.00pm. Margaret has appeared on many stages throughout the world but this will be her debut performance in Mid Ulster.

In March this year Margaret performed in several LA theatres, headlining the concert ‘Ireland’s Favourite Stars’ alongside America’s Got Talent finalists. She also performed in several Broadway Evening Concerts with the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra and was invited to join the acclaimed tenor and West End star Alfie Boe and the National Symphony Orchestra in concert.

She was also special guest of the multi-platinmum selling The Fron Male Voice Choir in their recent tour to New York City and also in their Uk tour this Autumn.

Margaret is now an ambassador for Derry/Londonderry the UK City of Culture 2013.

Cookstown Youth Choir CD ‘Voices Together’ will be launched next weekend and will be on sale at £10 with proceeds going to Cookstown Rotary Club charities. The choir is also performing at the Burnavon Craft Fair on Saturday afternoon 19 November.
