Christians are ready to rock

THE Christians are set for a gig in Spring & Airbrake on Saturday, January 30.

Celebrating 22 years as the face and voice of The Christians, Garry doesn’t appear to have aged a day since the groups million selling self-entitled hit album entered the charts at number two back in 1987.

Looking forward to the Belfast gig Garry told the ‘MAIL’: “It must be five years since we played Ireland. The fans are always on at us through the website about when we’re coming back.”

The band are set to hit the charts again with a version of Cat Stevens’ ‘Where Do The Children Play?’ which has got the thumbs up from Yusef himself.

Unlike many of the 80s bands who’ve made a comeback, The Christians never really went away.

Garry said: “We’ve just been there all the time.

“There was a brief break when I lived in Paris. This new line up is amazing. We’re in the process of working on tracks for a new album.”

The band, who regularly donate proceeds from their sales to charity, are in great tune.

Looking ahead to the gig in Spring & Airbrake Garry said: “We’ve got to do the old tracks that made us famous like ‘Words’, 'Forgotten Town, Hooverville’ and 'When the Fingers Point’ and a few new ones

“We’re very eclectic, very song based, and you maybe even get to dance.”

Tickets, priced 13, are on sale now from Ticketmaster, Katy Dalys and www.cdcleisure.com
