Ciaran plays gig at Creative Hub

This will be Ciaran’s first ‘home town’ gig since releasing his debut album ‘Not Nearly Dark’ to a full house in The Black Box Belfast and sold out shows across the north since.

Sharing the bill will be Kerry based singer-songwriter Ian O’Doherty, currently touring his debut EP ‘Never In Colour’ released early May on the back of shows in Cork, Dingle and Dublin including the renown Ruby Sessions showcase. Also, 17 year old Patrick Gardiner will be playing songs from his debut EP ‘Save Myself’ which has been played regularly by BBC Radio Ulster music guru’s Ralph McLean and Stuart Bailie among many others.

Doors on the night will be at 7pm with tickets available from The Creative Hub, Lurgan at £6.

Hailing from Aghagallon, alt-folk troubadour Ciaran Lavery has found a way to channel the quiet despair of isolation into timeless songs of beauty and heartache on his debut full-length album ‘Not Nearly Dark’ released March 3.

Following the critical success of the ‘You Will Be a Stranger Now’ and ‘The Maker of Things’ EPs, the former Captain Kennedy frontman has come into his own as a solo artist, finding a nice somewhere between the desperate longing of Bon Iver, the ruggedness of Tom Waits and the wanderlust of Ray Lamontagne.

Supporting Ciaran is Ian O’Doherty, who is currently working on his debut album for indie record label Fat Of The Land Records at Westland Studios, Dublin. He can also be seen regularly playing on the Irish live music circuit, from McCarthy’s Bar and Venue in Dingle, County Kerry to Whelan’s of Dublin and many other spots along the way.

Also on the support bill is Patrick Gardiner first picked up a guitar aged 10 on a family holiday. He first picked up his vocal chords aged 1 and a half, hollering along to his Dad’s Motown records.

Since then the 17-year-old has written some songs and performed them to small groups of friends in garden sheds and to large groups of strangers in the King’s Hall, Belfast. He is currently gigging and promoting his debut EP.
