Comedy Capers: just for laughs at Anchor

The Anchor in Portstewart is adding a comedy night to their already vibrant Fridays.

On Friday, August 21 the complex will open a third room to accommodate the top comedians currently on the Northern Ireland circuit.

Comedy Capers will see Neil Dougan, Sean Hegarty and Paddy McDonnell step onto the Anchor stage.

Dougan’s mix of incisive political satire and acute comedy has seen him making appearances on The Blame Game and The Empire Strikes Back. He has also supported Paddy Kielty, Tommy Tiernan, Brendan O’Carroll and Roy Walker on tour.

Lurgan funnyman Sean Hegarty is known as “the king of the one liners”. Having toured with Paddy Kielty for three years, Sean is now making a huge splash in the UK circuit and was runner-up in the UK Pun Championships last year.

Now one of Ireland’s top comedians, Paddy McDonnell’s refreshing and quirky take on life has made him a big hit with audiences across the country. H has supoorted the likes of Ardal O’Hanlon and Andrew Maxwell.

Comedy Capers will add to the already successful series of events each Friday in the Anchor.

The band Deja Vu will headline in The Anchor Bar while DJ Brian Moore takes to the decks for Xcite Fridays with top tunes and cocktails.

* Legacy make a welcome return to The Anchor this Friday.

The popular Donegal-based band are a firm favourite with the crowd in the Anchor Bar and also list it as one their favourite venues.

The Anchor Complex have also been announced as the “entertainment partner” of the Truck Fest at the NW200 Paddock on Sunday, August 16.

The event takes place in the afternoon and in the region of 100 trucks of all shapes and sizes are expected with Brian Moore acting as compere of the event and Dynamic Audio Visual supplying the sound.

Guest acts will be announced over the next week and The Anchor is “delighted to support a new and exciting attraction in the area especially as it’s raising vital funds for the RNLI”. Brian Moore meantime will be behind the decks this Friday in the Anchorage giving customers the choice between this and listening to Legacy in the bar.
