Comedy marathon

LURGAN laughter maker Sean Hegarty is readying himself for a comedy marathon.

Sean will be attempting 12 stand up shows in 12 Lurgan bars over 12 consecutive nights.

The shows will act as preparation for Sean's one-man show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival entitled ‘Don't Be A Comedian In NI While Drinking Your Buckfast Under A Bridge’.

Sean said: “I'm trying to structure my material for Edinburgh as I'll be doing about 30 shows in a row, so if I can practice the same set over and over and try and get a solid 40 minutes, then it should make it a lot easier when I get over there.”

He added: “All the gigs are free entry, but a scrounging ‘Pass The Glass Round Donation Finale’ will take place at each gig, so please give generously. And don't worry about missing the World Cup, each gig will start well after the final whistle of the last match.”

The marathon begins and ends in the Cellar and the show will feature a special guest warm-up act every night

Confirmed gigs so far are: Monday, June 14, The Cellar; Thursday, June 17, The Batcave; Friday, June 18, The Woodville; Saturday, June 19, The International, Sunday; June 20, The International/Reid’s Bar (double header), Monday, June 21, Fa’ Joe’s; Tuesday, June 22, The Beehive; Wednesday, June 23, JP’s; Friday, June 25, The Cellar.

If you work for a bar and would like to be involved, please get in touch with Sean via Facebook.
