Concert success for society

A CHEQUE for £600 has been presented to Roisin Hughes and Paul McKenna of the Chest Heart and Stroke Association by Michelle Harte (Musical Director) and members of Lurgan Musical Society.

“Thanks to the generosity of the audience and the Musical Society, these funds were raised during their wonderful summer concert held in Lurgan Town Hall on Friday June 8 as a result of a ballot,” said a spokesperson.

“The capacity audience was treated to a varied and exciting programme, with songs taken from the world of musicals, film, popular and sacred songs.

“Many members used many hidden talents during the evening, ranging from solo vocal performances, duets and even bell ringing when required (Mrs Grainne Irwin).

“Mr Ron Moore once again accompanied proceedings on drums, with the Society dancers adding a certain elegance to the evening.”

An emotional tribute was made to the memory of the Titanic, with the addition of a string ensemble (Dr Niamh Haughey, Mrs Colette Lavery and Miss Orla Rice) making a beautiful contribution to the first half of the concert.

Michelle Harte who directed the concert from the piano was delighted with the wonderful success of the concert and is already making preparations for Lurgan Musical Society’s forthcoming Christmas Concert. Please watch the Lurgan Mail for details.
