Conleth takes a shot at Fame

LURGAN performer Conleth Kane is one of the many hopefuls involved in new RTÉ series, Fame the Musical, which starts this Sunday.

Conleth will be seen at the auditions in episode one being put through his paces.

26-year-old Conleth has been living in London since 2003 where he is a jobbing actor and teaches drama one day a week.

He has performed professionally in Walt Disney’s international tour of Beauty and the Beast and in a UK touring production of Joseph.

Conleth also appeared in a number of episodes of Casualty in 2009 as a student doctor.

Fame The Musical sees the nation's young hopefuls put their acting, singing and dancing talents to the ultimate test in the hope of clinching the dream prize of a lifetime, a lead role in the nationwide tour.

Presented by Derek Mooney and produced for RT by Screentime ShinAwiL, Fame The Musical airs for 10 weeks on RT One at 6.30pm on Sunday nights.

In the first episode viewers will see the hopefuls being put through their paces at the auditions by actor and director Simon Delaney, stage producer Robert C Kelly, and West End star Jacinta Whyte.

Those who successfully wow the judges will be seen going through Fame School in episode two, an intense workshop phase.
