Council launches new events brochure

BALLYMONEY Borough Council has just released its new Events.etc brochure which gives details of arts and cultural events taking place in Ballymoney Town Hall from now until Christmas.

Organised by Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee and the Council’s Cultural Services, the programme features a number of excellent music events beginning on

Wednesday 29 September with a performance by the amazing Nollaig Casey and Arty McGlynn. This will be followed on 4 November with Songwriters in the Round with the hugely talented Anthony Toner, Paul Casey and Eilidh Patterson.

Over the next few months Mr S Alex Blair continues the series of Local History Talks he began in the springtime by looking at more aspects of the lives of the people in North Antrim down the centuries. The first talk in the series entitled A Bit O’ Learnin’ takes place on Tuesday 21 September.

Ballymoney Museum hosts a number of exhibitions over the next few months beginning with Cycling Past – the Story of Bicycle Clubs in Ballymoney which opens on Thursday 9 September. The highly popular 24th Annual Art & Ulster Woodturners Exhibition takes place in November and is followed by an exhibition of work by local artist Hugh McIlfatrick, in December.

Of course, the programme wouldn’t be complete without the traditional Christmas panto and this year The Panto Company make a welcome return with the children’s classic, Aladdin. There are shows for primary schools on Tuesday 30 November and Wednesday 1 December at 10am with family shows both evenings at 7.30pm.

Finally the programme also offers a variety of courses including Calligraphy, Creative Writing, Drama & Dance, Painting & Patchwork. Enrolment for all courses takes place on Tuesday 7 September from 7-9pm in Ballymoney Town hall.
