The Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor George Duddy, commented, “The Borough of Coleraine is steeped in natural beauty and heritage providing the perfect basis for the Summer Walks Programme.

“Many people probably do not realise the wealth of interest and good walking there is to be had in the Coleraine Borough and this programme is a good way to find out more. It’s also an opportunity for walking enthusiasts and those who walk less often to go somewhere different, meet new people and have fun learning about their area”.

The programme is co-ordinated by Coleraine Borough Council’s Countryside and Marine Manager, Mark Strong who said, ‘The Guided Walks Programme provides participants with a range of expertly guided walks in stunning locations throughout the Borough.

“The walks provide an ideal opportunity to get active and keep fit this summer, whilst enjoying the scenery and learning about the heritage and biodiversity of our local area.”

The second walk in the series will be on Wednesday 16th July at The Moor and beachfront, Castlerock. Join Rachel Bain, Biodiversity Officer for Coleraine, Ballymoney, Limavady and Moyle, for a gentle stroll around The Moor, an area of coastal upland heath bounding the famous Downhill Demesne.
