Countdown on to pipe band event

WITH just over two weeks to go, a host of popular pipe bands will be heading up the competition in the eagerly anticipated Craigavon & District Pipe Band and Drum Major Championships taking place in Lurgan Park on Saturday, June 15.

Hundreds of pipers and drummers from all over Ireland, north and south, are set to compete in the event including World Champions Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band, McDonald Memorial Band from Dromore and Battlehill Pipe Band.

Bands from the Irish Association also attending include Wexford’s New Ross and District Pipe Band and Gorey Pipe Band and Donegal’s Thiepval Memorial and Manorcunningham Pipe Band.

The event, organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (Co. Down Section) in partnership with Craigavon Borough Council, starts at 11am.

And once the event kicks off, visitors will be able to enjoy the melodic talents of the bands performing a wonderful spectrum of music throughout the 
day.

Visitors will also get the chance to tantalise their tastebuds at the Artisan Food Village where there will be a wide variety of foods on offer from the likes of Hilltop Honey NI, Laura’s Larder, Red Dog, Heavenly Cupcakes, Milkymoo Shakes and 7th Heaven.

Admission is £4 and 16-year-olds and under are free. There will be a complimentary shuttle bus from Lurgan Town Hall to the event.
