Dancing for Peaceperformances

Events range in scale from private gatherings to public concerts, and this year the dancers and dramatists from FADD studios celebrated by having a ‘Dance for Peace Day’, where everyone wore something white to celebrate the day and to represent peace.

Fiona Bawn-Thompson, Company Director, said: “FADD studios are an inclusive academy with kids and teens from different backgrounds, and areas, including Lurgan, Craigavon, Portadown, Gilford, Donaghcloney and Crumlin who who come together to rehearse and create dance routines together, plays and performances.

“We pride ourselves in having so much diversity, and Saturday was a celebration of how we can use the arts as a mechanism to create organic and lasting friendships, both with dancers and parents, who would never normally have the opportunity to socialise with each other.

“There are so many barriers in our lives, between race, social class, religion, belief and identity. So on this International Day of Peace, we as a small group are adding to the many International celebrations that are taking place worldwide.

“The impact of millions of people in all parts of the world, coming together for one day of peace, is immense, and does make a difference.”
