DJ Format back in Belfast

DJ Format returns to Belfast to play the Spring & Airbrake on Friday, July 16 after selling the venue out last year.

He distinguishes himself from many of his DJ colleagues by keeping the cutesiness and special effects to a minimum, leaving the focus where it should be - on the tunes he's selected and on his tastefully wielded turntablist technique.

DJ Format's debut album 'Music For The Mature B-Boy' was one of the slowburn success stories of 2003.

2005's follow up album 'If You Can't Join 'Em… Beat 'Em' saw Format step up a gear, tightening the loops still further for a tougher, leaner sound. A heavy schedule of acclaimed shows followed the release throughout 2005/06.

A recent flurry of activity has seen Format deliver another mix album, this time for the legendary Fania label, applying his signature b-boy style to the world's foremost catalogue of latin music. Alongside this, Format's discreetly released 12" tribute to James Brown 'Stealin' James', has been a huge success both with DJ's and dancefloors alike.

Format is currently hard at work on his third album.

Tickets for DJ Format in the Spring & Airbrake are priced 10 and are available from Ticketmaster outlets provincewide, tel 0870 243 4455 or go to www.ticketmaster.ie
