Double success for admin students

MANY experts have pointed to education as a way of future proofing the economy from our difficulties and two administration students who studied at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) have showed their willingness to prepare themselves to be part of the future growth and prosperity of our economy.

In September 2010 Leah Redmond and Anna Ciepielewska enrolled on an EDI Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration and Practice course at SERC Lisburn Campus with the aim of gaining a recognised qualification that will help them gain employment. Shortly after commencing the course their tutors could see that not only did they want to pass the qualification, but they wanted to pass with flying colours. That’s just what they did.

A qualification that covers all aspects of business administration including carrying out your responsibilities at work, researching, analysing and reporting information and using specialist software, the course also combines welcoming guest lecturers from industry.

It was during a visit to the College by Grafton Recruitiment the students were advised to pursue an additional text processing qualification to complement their business admin qualification. Listening to this advice Leah and Anna, under the tutelage of their lecturer, began studying for a Level 3 Diploma in text processing.

Amazingly the girls completed both qualifiications in one academic year; taking a total of 22 module exams each and achieving a combined total of 28 distinctions.

James Curries, Head of School for Business, Hospitality and Catering congratulated Leah and Anna.

“They showed great drive and determination to complete both qualifications in one and to do so in such spectacular fashion is an amazing achievement” he said. “They have worked very hard throughout the year and demonstrating a strong desire to score highly in each unit they studied. I wish them well for the future and have no doubt that if they continue to show the passion and commitment they did during their time at SERC, then they can look forward to a long and successful career.”
