Emma on stage for free concert in park

The countdown is on for the local Council's free concert to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday, with an impressive line-up of talent to take to the stage in Lurgan Park - very definitely Lurgan's crown jewel.

For local songstress, Emma Horan it’s set to be a highlight in what has been a very busy time.

The self styled Internet sensation, aged just 17 is juggling her A-level exams with the launch of her first single and high profile performances across the country. She will be performing to thousands at the free concert at Lurgan Park on 11th June.

Emma started recording herself performing unique ‘mash-ups’ of songs she loved.

She started posting them to YouTube and other social media just two years ago. Since then her videos have captured the imagination of over 500,000 active viewers around the world.

She released her debut single ‘Right Here’ on 13th May, its video having clocked up 65,000 views within a couple of weeks.

When asked how she felt about going from making home videos in her bedroom to performing in front of thousands in her hometown, the young star commented: “I grew up visiting Lurgan Park so to think that I’ll be on a stage performing my own music there is amazing and a little bit scary.”

The free concert is hosted by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. Paul Clarke (UTV) and Sarah Travers (BBC) will be comperes for the evening from 7:30 to 10:30pm.

The impressive line-up includes the Rod Patterson Session Orchestra, featuring Siobhan Pettit and Aine Whelan with special guest George Jones performing ’90 years of music’.

Lee Matthews , originally from Omagh, recently won the ‘best songwriter’ award at the Irish Country Music Awards at the Armagh City Hotel will also perform. Fans can expect to hear Lee play his new single ‘The Farmer wants a wife’ live on the night.

The concert stage will be framed by the magnificent backdrop of Brownlow House and visitors are invited to bring a blanket and picnic to fully enjoy the surroundings.

A spectacular firework finale will round off the evening and visitors of all ages are invited to attend…
