Emmerdale farm’s Paddy Kirk opens £1 shop in City

POUNDLAND, Europe’s biggest single price retailer, has opened a new store in Londonderry - creating 27 new temporary jobs.

Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt - aka ‘Paddy Kirk’ - officially launched the new store during a fun day on September 22, following its opening on September 20.

The actor got the celebrations well and truly underway, posing for pictures and signing autographs for his delighted fans.

The event saw many lucky shoppers win a selection of Poundland prizes and vouchers which could be exchanged for goodies ranging from multi-bags of Walkers Crisps to greeting cards.

Children were treated to free balloons and sweets and Poundland’s in-store DJ provided entertainment throughout the fun day.

Store Manager, Ruaidhri McGurk, says: “I’m thrilled that the people of Derry turned out in their hundreds to support their new Poundland store which has created 27 new temporary jobs for local residents.

“Shoppers enjoyed the entertainment and had a great time meeting Dominic Brunt while browsing for bargains. It was a great first day in what I am sure will be a very successful future for the store.”

Poundland has over 400 stores nationwide selling an array of products at just £1. The range includes top brand essentials including Mr Muscle, Cadbury, Weight Watchers, Colgate and Heinz.

Poundland also offers seasonal products including a range for Halloween and Christmas and there are plenty of offers including 3 for £1 on pick and mix crisps, chocolates and drinks, and ‘Buy One Get One Free’ deals, so shoppers can get even more for a pound.
