Enjoy some great music at
‘Summer in the City’ event

A two day event featuring Jools Holland, Melanie C, Marc Almond, Robin Mark and Hillsong will take place in Botanic Gardens on June 20 and 21.

Summer In The City features Robin Mark plus Hillsong on Friday, June 20 and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra on Saturday, June 21 with special guests Melanie C and Marc Almond.

Robin Mark has been leading worship in his home church, CFC, in Belfast, for over 25 years. Indeed most of the inspiration for the worship songs he has written has come from the spiritual journey that he and the Belfast congregation have taken.

Robin will be joined in Botanic Gardens by Hillsong and their Worship Pastor Reuben Morgan, who has written songs such as ‘Eagles Wings’, ‘Hear Our Praises’, ‘I Give You My Heart’ and ‘Mighty To Save’ which won The Worship Song Of The Year at the 40th GMA Dove Awards. Reuben officially became Hillsong’s new Worship Pastor in 2008. He has toured extensively in the USA, Canada and Europe including England, Scotland, Germany and Sweden.

Jools Holland formed The Jools Holland Big Band – comprising himself and Gilson Lavis. This has gradually metamorphosed into the current 20-piece Jools Holland and His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, which consists of pianist, organist, drummer, three female vocals, guitar, bass guitar, two tenor saxophones, two alto saxophones, baritone saxophone, three trumpets, and four trombones.

Melanie C is one of the five members of the Spice Girls, in which she was nicknamed Sporty Spice. As a solo artist, she has sold more than 12 million records.

Marc Almond was born in Southport in 1957. An internationally acclaimed artist who has sold over 30 million records worldwide, he is an icon and an influence on a generation of musicians.

Over the years Marc has collaborated with a number of artists, including Nick Cave, Siouxsie Sioux, John Cale, Antony Hegarty, Baby Dee, Bronski Beat, Gene Pitney and PJ Proby amongst many others, and has toured regularly and collaborated with Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
