Enjoy Summer sounds at Down Arts Centre

Down Arts Centre is delighted to welcome back acclaimed local singer Michelle Baird and her ‘Elluna’ musicians for a special summer variety concert on Saturday 6 June.

The show is performed and hosted by Michelle, who is also a member of Northern Ireland’s well known vocal group The Leading Ladies, accompanied by her talented Elluna musicians, Comber’s Stephen Carlisle on piano and Kilkeel star violinist, Michelle Haughian. Featuring lots of feel good summer hits from Eva Cassidy to the Eagles, the Carpenters to Coldplay, Johnny Cash and more, what better way to start your summer days.

This year’s special guest is Lisburn singer/actor Matthew Forsythe who has appeared alongside ‘Lewis’ star Laurence Fox and Harry Potter’s Matthew Lewis on the West End and played one of the lead roles in ‘Cabaret’ in The Mac theatre last year.

Michelle commented; “We’re delighted to be returning once again to the fantastic Down Arts Centre, this time to perform my favourite summer songs alongside the talented Matthew! Since last year’s performance, Elluna have been fortunate to have several sell-out shows including a special Christmas night in the stunning Mussenden Temple. Our repertoire is so varied which is something our audiences seem to enjoy and there’s always something for everyone’s music tastes.”

Matthew added; “It’s great to have the opportunity to perform with Michelle, who I first met many years ago through the local musical society circuit. We’ll be doing some great duets including classics such as Johnny Cash/June Carter’s ‘Jackson’ and will be a great night’s entertainment for anyone who’d like to come along and support us.”

‘Sounds of Summer’ is on Saturday June 6 at 8pm in Down Arts Centre.

Tickets are £12 / £10 concessions and available from (028) 4461 0747.
