The Haven is a centre for former and active street drinkers, people with drug and alcohol abuse issues, the homeless, travellers, ex-prisoners and people with mental health issues for whom ‘community care’ is not working.

Last year’s winner was Athlone based group Poetry In the Park, whose members took poetry recitals outside and encouraged people of all ages to enjoy the spoken word in natural surroundings.

Across the UK and Republic of Ireland over 60,000 voluntary arts groups provide regular opportunities for cultural engagement in their local areas.

The Epic Awards shine a spotlight on their achievements.
