Ethan is top three at INTO Film awards

The William Pinkerton Primary School pupil was nominated in the Review of the Year category as part of the Into Film Awards 2015 and travelled to the Empire, Leicester Square, London, for the awards ceremonywhich was hosted by Matt Edmondson.

The Into Film Awards recognises not only the best young filmmakers and film critics in the country, but also the inspiring teachers and film clubs who are making the most of the educational power of film. The entrants’ reviews are scrutinised by some of the UK’s best film critics, including Anna Smith, Chair of the UK Critics’ Circle Film Section.

Ethan’s Dad Aaron explained: “Each week Ethan goes to his Film Club at his School, he watches a film with his school friends and then afterwards he can go online to INTO FILMS and write a review of what he thought of the film.

“INTO FILMS receive over 6000 reviews each week on their website from across a network of over 10000 film clubs and so the competition for this category was incredibly tough.

“What is even more remarkable is the fact that Ethan was only 5 years of age when he wrote his review of the Fox and the Child last November and when we found out he was nominated we discovered that he was up against a 14-year-old from St Ninians High School in Glasgow and a 12-year-old from Dunraven School Film Club in London.

“We attended the award Ceremony on Tuesday 24th March and we had had a great day out around London visiting Buckingham Palace, House Guards Parade, Big Ben and the London Eye before attending the Ceremony. For Ethan the best bit was getting on the Tubeas the trains were so fast!”

“The winner of the award was Mairi from Glasgow. Never the less we are so proud of Ethan’s achievement. For him to be in the top three out of so many thousands is outstanding.”
