Fancy a crossriver challenge?

With Mencap’s Zip the Lagan Challenge fast approaching in Belfast this Sunday (September 21), the learning disability charity is asking adrenaline seekers from Ballymoney and the surrounding area to help it reach new heights in fundraising by taking part in the cross-river challenge that can benefit local Mencap services.

Mencap’s regional fundraising manager, Vanessa Elder said, “I am actually looking forward to it, it’ll be exhilarating and a fun way to raise the money we need to enable the thousands of people with a learning disability and their families we support to live their lives the way they want. Mencap has had an office in Ballymoney for a number of years and runs a number of local services, so I hope we can attract some local Zippers.’

The event takes place on Sunday 21 September at Donegall Quay near the ‘Big Fish’. To experience this adrenalin rush, you need to be 16 or over, be under 108 kilos (17 stone) and can raise £100. For more information call 028 9069 1351 or email [email protected]

Mencap Yong Professional Committee member, Laura Russell is a little nervous too, “I want to do something a bit different to raise some money for Mencap . I am running the Causeway half marathon at the end of the month, but haven’t done this kind of thing before. It’ll be fun, if not a little scary, but I am looking forward to the challenge and would encourage people to take the challenge,” she said.
