Fancy dress workshop

ON Saturday 11th August Quadrangle Productions will be holding a Fancy Dress Workshop in the McAlister Hall, Ballycastle, from 2 - 4pm.

The workshop is to help everyone attending to prepare for the mega Fancy Dress Parade that will be happening in the town on Friday 17th August.

If you want some helpful hints on how to put a costume together or need ideas on how to accessorize your already existing costume then please come along!

Entry into the workshop is £2 per person and you are encouraged to bring any costumes ideas or old clothes/shoes that you have along with you. This workshop is open to all ages and everyone is welcome.

To help with the workshop the organisers are also looking for anyone who has any old clothes/shoes/bed clothes and jewellery to donate. If you can help them out please call 07517391743 and they can collect.

Tug of War

BALLYCASTLE Community Development Group are holding a community games weekend over August 18th and 19th and would love to close the games with a Rathlin v Ballycastle Tug of War challenge on the Sunday night at the seafront, the Times has been told.

Will the Rathlin folk accept this challenge?

Family day

Ballintoy District and Community Development Association invites you to a family day trip to Carfunnock Country Park.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 18, leaving at 10am from St Joseph’s Hall and returning at 5pm approx.

Please bring a packed lunch. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Flower Show

The members of North Antrim Horticultural Association have been busy preparing for their 84th Annual Show on Saturday 11 August. The venue will be the Parish Centre at Queen Street, Ballymoney.

There will be the usual wide range of classes for flowers, fruit and vegetables, home industries and handcrafts. Entries are welcome from all-comers and those who have not received a schedule can obtain one from Auldwyn Calderwood, Show Secretary, Tel: 028 2765 7477 or Kenneth Bacon, Tel: 028 2766 6925.

The Show will open to the public from 1.00pm with the presentation of the prizes at 3.00pm by the chief guest Dr John Johston. Helping Hand, Children’s MRI Scanner Appeal for the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children is the charity, which will benefit from this years show. So if you want to see the best of local produce come along to the Parish Centre on Saturday 11 August.

Flute classes

Flute Band is holding classes in both flute and drum.

Classes are every Monday night from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the Ballymaconnelly Orange Hall on the Vow Road.

Everybody is welcome to attend and all capabilities will be cater for. This tuition project has been funded by the Ulster Scots Agency.

Lambeg tuition

BALLYMACONNELLY Renewal Group is holding tuition classes in both fife and lambeg drumming.

Everybody is welcome to come along and all standards from beginners to advanced players will be catered for.

Classes are on a Thursday night from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the Ballymaconnelly Orange Hall on the Vow Road.
