Festival of angels in St James’s

Many of you will have heard of, if not visited a christmas tree festival in recent years, but the fundraising committee in St James’s decided to take a different angle on it and have a festival of angels and start the festive season in a very special way.

It was an angel who came to Mary, to tell her that she would have a baby and angels who announced the birth if Jesus to the shepherds. But in the Bible there are at least 227 mentions of angels.41 angels made by organisations in the church, local schools and businesses from a variety of materials will adorn the church this weekend.

Each angel has a biblical text which is included in the festival guide that visitors can read as they view the church.

The festival opens on friday 5th December 2014 from 7 -10pm, Saturday 6th December 2014 11am - 10pm and Sunday 7th December 2014 2 -6pm. The weekend will close with a thanksgiving service at 6.30pm. Refreshments are available in the minor hall. Come along, bring your friends and start the festive season in a very meaningful way.
