Fiddler at Iveagh Movie Studios

BANBRIDGE Musical Society’s performance of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ will start at Iveagh Movie Studios, Banbridge, on Monday, May 14, at 7.30pm.

The show is expected to be a very emotional one, featuring performances such as ‘Tradition’, ‘Sunrise, Sunset’ and of course ‘If I were a rich man’.

There are ten members in the Banbridge Musical Society, all of whom would greatly appreciate the support of fellow locals.

One of these members, Rosemary Kelly, who is current Chairperson of the society said, “We would really appreciate the support of other people from Lurgan and Craigavon as there are several members from the area.”

Quoting one of the songs in the performance she said that anyone who attends this performance will be guaranteed “happiness and tears”.

Rosemary has over 30 years of experience in musical societies, being a member of Lurgan Operatic Society before her 18 years membership in Banbridge Musical Society.

In this time Rosemary has taken part in many musicals and has had the privilege of playing numerous principal roles.

Over the past number of weeks the members have been holding a ‘Cow Clop’ fundraising event.

In this event, a field is divided up into a grid of squares and which ever square the cow “clops” in, the person with the ticket of the same number as that square wins.

The Cow Clop fundraiser result will be revealed on Saturday, May 5, and the winner will receive £500.

The last production of Banbridge Musical Society was “Sweet Charity” which picked up two National Awards.

These were in the UK and Irish Musical Award schemes.
